Life In Scorpion Bay

San Juanico — known to surfers worldwide as Scorpion Bay — is a remote fishing village on the Pacific coast of Baja California Sur. For decades it was a closely-guarded secret among surfers willing to make the long drive down dust roads for its legendary right-hand point breaks.

Today it's a tight-knit community of locals, fishermen, expats, and travelers drawn by the same things: warm water, empty waves, star-filled skies, and a slower way of life. The town runs on solar power and good vibes, with taco stands, palapa bars, and family-run hotels that treat every visitor like an old friend.

Whether you come to surf the points, chase yellowtail offshore, rip across the desert on a quad, or simply watch the sunset with a cold drink — Scorpion Bay has a way of making you want to stay just a little longer.

🏄 Surf Report

Best on summer south swells (roughly May–September). Four right points — First (mellow), Second (most consistent), Third (fast & hollow) and Fourth (bigger) — can link for rides over a minute. Sheltered from the NW wind.

🎣 Fishing Seasons

    📅 Events & Season

Surf season peaks in summer; winter is quieter and great for fishing & quad trips. Come prepared: the town is cash-only (no ATM), there's no Pemex (gas sold in town) and no full medical — fill up and stock up on the way in.
